Salmon Favorelles are a French breed of chickens developed in the 1860s in northern France. They are adorable with their fluffy beards, muffs and feathered legs making ownership hard to resist. They are very gentle and have easy going temperaments and have known even to become affectionate towards their owners. Because of their kind nature, their popularity has grown for use as pets especially with kids. Increasingly people enjoy using them as exhibition birds because of their sweet personalities and attractive plumage, particularly the males with their striking color combination of cream, brown, and black colors. With all the fluffy feathers covering them head to toe they are very winter hardy and good winter layers of medium small cream-colored eggs. They are American Poultry Association approved.
